The Latest Scoop- SUPPORTERS- Be Sure To Read!!

I just can't get Facebook Notes to work on the page. Ah! Facebook's failures can get a little annoying at times. So, here we go!

FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:   I have been doing some thinking, and the first thing I thought of: A NEW CONTEST! This time, it will revolve around our LOVE for animals, not so much the animals themselves. How-so? I'm thinking a short story or poetry contest! I'd prefer to start a poetry contest first, then move on to the short story contest. All semi-Finalist Poetry entries will be posted to our blog, and every short story will also be included on the blog. Now, I will of course add a second post with requirements for each. If you would like to begin writing now, here are some basic criteria:

*Short stories should be 500-2,000 words in length, with a maximum of 10,000.

*Poetry should consist of 10 lines or more, and Haikus and other short poems are also welcome. These may not essentially win, but your creativity can earn a spotlight!

*The concept of these writings MUST be based on pets, one's love for animals, animals in general... We have to stick to our main theme :)

***ALSO: I may eventually have these published into a book- A series for our community. Now, this is in the air, but I think if our collection is large enough, it deserves to be bound and placed on a bookshelf for reading by a cozy fire, and for kindergarten teachers to read to their students. Hmmm, maybe donate some books to some kindergarten teachers?? Or perhaps to libraries that read to their young visitors? It could always be a good idea to turn the easier to understand poems into a kid-friendly version :) We will discuss this in detail later, but if you think it's a cool idea, definitely let me know!

SECOND ORDER: I would like to let everyone know about a new proposed feature on Facebook. Facebook plans to implement a private messaging feature for pages- allowing all of you guys to contact me directly. If for ANY reason you would like to contact me, all you have to do is comment on a post, asking me to message you :) If I don't, do it again! Chances are I simply didn't see it. If you request, I will contact you! This new feature (if implemented) will make it so much easier for us to contact privately. It will also make it easier to ask direct questions, where I won't miss them. I'm excited for this feature!

THIRD ORDER: I thought I would share one other bit of news with you guys: I'm writing an E-Book for our community. It is planned out, and I'm in the beginning chapters. The basis of this E-Book is Animals & Children- I plan to cover a lot of material, from choosing the right pet, corresponding ages for those pets, how to keep your kids actively taking care of them, enticing and instilling responsibility with pets, and activities and other things that your kids (and even adults will enjoy these activities/crafts!) can do with your pets. This book's main purpose is to better the bonding between humans and pets through understanding, with a focus on children and how to maintain their sense of responsibility (we all know how children will forget about and get bored with pets). I will also include printable games & materials, so that your children can use them over and over again. This E-Book may also make a great gift, so I'm thinking of putting it on disc and physically shipping it via mail. What do you guys think? Feedback is always important to me! I plan to have this EBook ready to roll out in 12 Weeks, so I will do a little more planning when it is closer to being done :) Planning for 60 solid pages of text, so it will probably result in a 100+ page EBook. (with tables, and photos, and what not).

FOURTH ORDER: I'm wondering if anyone is also willing to recruit for our community, and help us to grow. If you are, I greatly appreciate all shout outs to our page! If you love our community and do want to share us, you can share our link on facebook telling your friends to join, sharing our link on bookmarking sites, other social networking sites, and you can even post ads with your local craigslist website about us. I have been actively paying for promotion, so we can accomplish big things in the future! However, it does get a little pricey. So every new fan that comes because of your efforts, I truly appreciate! I know these are free, easy ways to promote our group, but I am not able to do this by myself- It requires quite a lot of money. If a handful of fans posted a recommendation or two about our page to places like craigslist or Kijiji, it's quick, easy, and a MASSIVE help! I've been paying too much for advertising- But I absolutely LOVE our group, and I believe it deserves to be heard by the masses! Hopefully, you believe this too- and we can see a jump in awareness for our page, and our cause!

My Review Of The Beginners Guide To Keeping Freshwater Puffers

Like many of you, I've never owned a Puffer Fish myself. However, I've always thought they were one of the coolest fish in the pet store. I always stopped at the tank to watch them- With their bright coloration and incredible eyes, they always intrigued me.

I was asked by a nice lady here in our community to read her new E-Book, (The Beginner's Guide To Keeping Freshwater Puffers) and post a review to our blog. Even though we may not have too many puffer owners, this is for those who do! I will be honest- Most ebooks are nearly worthless, or pose very little information. However, this is one of the best pet E-Books I have seen yet. My reasons are: Advanced research over the specimen in question (Which would be different species of freshwater puffers), well rounded text that is easy to understand and VERY interesting (she really knows how to keep your attention), plenty of photos to help illustrate the many points made, and she even covers little known facts, illnesses, tips, and tricks regarding the care of freshwater puffers. As previously stated, I don't own puffers- and I can safely say that this E-Book has taught me so much about them. If you love puffers, it would be a fantastic read. You can read her own review of the book at: http://freshwaterpufferfish.org/puffer-care/beginner%E2%80%99s-guide-to-keeping-freshwater-puffers-book-review

This lady is a wonderful writer, and supplied me with a copy of the E-Book for me to read. She definitely knows what she is talking about, and I was actually amazed at how well written the E-Book was. When I see a wonderful artist, I know they must be shared!

She has a free excerpt of the book for you to read, and has the full copy ready for purchase. She is constantly updating the book, and even if you don't yet own a puffer fish (but are planning to), her email list would be a good source of information for you! You can find the free preview of the book by signing up.

If you are interested in this perfect little puffer book, this link takes you straight to checkout with paypal, BUT this link gives you $5.00 off. Click Here to check it out! This book is over 70 pages long, and it's crazy just how much it teaches you over Pufferfish ownership. I sure hope her E-Book becomes mainstream in the world of Puffer Fish, because it's a diamond of a book!

Willie Nelson In The Fight Against Doggy Discrimination!

"Willie Nelson wants the state of Ohio to repeal its law condoning one form of discrimination: canine profiling. The singer is speaking out in favor ofOhio House Bill 14, which would remove from the books a law that declares certain dog breeds inherently vicious and would strengthen associated laws targeting irresponsible dog owners.
Nelson, a dog lover who lends his famous name to the Best Friends Animal Society, has published a letter asking Ohio residents to contact their state senators to voice support for the bill, which has already passed in the House of Representatives. By current state law, pit bulls and pit bull mixes are automatically categorized as vicious, regardless of their behavior. "There are countless dogs deemed 'pit bulls' but actually are of unknown heritage who make wonderful family pets," Nelson writes. "Dogs, like people, are individuals and should each be judged on his/her own merits."

Pet Supplies- The Necessities & Luxury PART I

When it comes to owning a pet, there are some things people forget! This is not a complete list, I will add on to this blog!
Pet ID tags are very commonly forgotten. Pet ID tags help to ensure that your pet can be returned if lost. If your dog or cat does not have a pet id tag, they very well may never be able to find their way home. Pet ID tags are highly customizable, so you may choose to have an ordinary bone shaped pet id tag, or a cute pink heart shaped one.
Another, is something to keep your pet from getting away from home- a wireless pet fence. A wireless pet fence is easier to install than most, and are getting cheaper and cheaper. It also keeps your backyard open, as the only one who is affected by the wireless fence is the pet. A wireless fence usually works with a specialized collar, that keeps the animal from escaping the wireless fence. A wireless fence is a wonderful choice at a temporary home.
Pet Life Insurance! Pet life insurance works similar to ours. Along with pet health insurance. Pet health insurance helps to protect your pet, so that if they might get sick or injured, the pet health insurance helps to foot the veterinary bill. Pet life insurance will help you to bury your pet, if something should take them from you. As pets age, they need more and more medical care. This makes pet health insurance MORE than worth it. Even though you pay a monthly fee, you don't have to worry with a $3,000 vet bill all of a sudden, if something should happen.
Dog training schools are also a perfect start for first time puppy owners. Often times they do not know how to train their puppy and may go about it wrong. Saving up money for one of the many dog training schools out there will help you to instill obedience in your puppy. Dog training schools not only teach your puppy- they teach you how to train them. ANY dog owner will benefit from all of those dog training schools out there.
Cat hairball remedy is a very important medicine for cat owners to keep on hand. Cat hairball remedy helps to heal your kitty of hairballs, and you wil be glad you got it. When a kitty gets hairballs, they will run around the house leaving little piles of vomit and fur. Sometimes, the cat hairball remedy does not work instantly... it takes a couple days worth of treatment. But as long as you give this to your cats, you should be able to avoid the surprise puddles they leave on your floor or carpet. Also, cat hairball remedy keeps the digestive track clean and in working order, so it's very beneficial to the digestion of food.
Cats scratching posts are also very important for cats. Your kitty needs to shave down his or her claws, in a designated area. Cats scratching posts keep them from scratching on your furniture. If you value the life of your furniture, carpet, doorways, and anything else they can claw, then your cats scratching post will keep their attention. If you have catnip, keep some around the scratching post to keep their attention on it.
If you have a horse you love to ride, horse joint supplements may become of major interest to you. Horses need these joint supplements, as they are such large animals... Their joints are subjected to lots of pressure and work, which can mean bad joint health as they age. Horse joint supplements help to protect joints and keep them healthy. In the long run, this will minimize the risk of foundering or lameness. Horse joint supplements might just save you a lot of money in veterinary bills as your horse ages. Horse joint supplements are not too expensive, so you will be spending your money on a very good supply.
Pet sitters and dog walkers are also a VERY important part of having animals. Even though pet sitters do not seem like a necessity, they are! If you go on vacation, or have an emergency where you cant care for your animals, you are going to need pet sitters. You should always plan ahead and research pet sitters in your area, and choose one who you like the most, and can trust with your pets. This way, if something happens, that person can be notified quickly and easily. This eliminates having to search for pet sitters at the last minute. Dog walkers are also highly important, that is, if you don't walk your dog. Dog walkers are fairly easy to find, especially in cities. If you and your dog live in an apartment and you never can find the time to walk your dog, dog walkers will take up the chore for a small fee. Dog walkers also tend to be people who truly have a love for animals, including college students, teenagers, and single moms who need a little extra money. Often times, dog walkers are very cheap and can be found very close to your home.

Healthier Choices For Your Pet, And Objects For The Ultimate Pampering.

Thanks for coming to view! Today, i'm going to show you a list of things that promote the well being of your pets health. First problem to address- Dogs who eat so fast that they choke!
I know plenty of dogs do this, and I've come across a pretty innovative invention for dogs who do this. This is a special bowl that sort of makes the dog have to maneuver around some projecting poles in the bowl to get to their food. This slows the speed that they eat at, and encourages them to chew the food. I thought this might just be one of the best dog bowls ever made lol. You can check it out by clicking on the picture, I'm not exactly sure what all stores sell them- I know I haven't seen these in Walmart yet... So here's a link. I'm fairly sure this is a new innovation, so they should tell you where you can find them! The blue one is the larger, the red is smaller.

Ticks- Common Myths And THE FACTS! Protecting Our Pets!

1)
MYTH: Lit matches, petroleum jelly, or finger nail polish are good ways to remove ticks.

FACT: These methods do not cause a tick to release. It may actually cause them to burrow deeper, and run the risk of depositing disease laden saliva into the bloodstream. Using tweezers, get as close to the head of the tick as possible and pull in a steady motion. Flush the tick down a toilet to dispose of it.
