2012 Halloween Dog Events, Halloween Dog Festivals

We all enjoy Halloween, and many of us know that our dogs should have the chance to as well! Many places across the country are celebrating Halloween with community pets, in recognition of this. If you would like to attend one, you might find one near you. This is probably more geared towards those who live in more populated areas, and I do apologize to those who do not have one nearby. Don't feel bad though; there's not one anywhere NEAR me either!

Fredericksburg, Va.:
This festival, Fredericksburg Dog Fair and Masquerade Dog Parade, is over in good old Virginia. There are several things going on here from Ask A Vet to adoption events. You could enter your dog in a costume contest, into a show competition, or even skill competitions. There are demonstrations as well, which is a particular benefit to first time dog or puppy owners. It takes place on Saturday, October 6th (TOMORROW GUYS!) and lasts until 4pm. DONT MISS IT Y'ALL :) All proceeds go to helping adoption and spay/nueter!

Coral Gables, FL.:
Howl-O-Ween is hosted in sunny Florida, at the Fairchild Tropical botanical Garden. It is being held on October 31st, and will be a day for leashed pooches to explore the botanical gardens with their families. It is noted that there will be special activities; However, I do not have any details. If you are located near this town or garden, go give it a look around the day of the event.

Colchester, Conn.:
Pumpkins & Pooches Autumn Fair & Dog Fest is going to have PLENTY for your family and pets to do, and is free to get in as well! This event is held on the town green, and of course has all of the traditional dog halloween fest activities. It also has pumpkin painting and hay rides available, making it that much more fun for the kids. This is on Sunday Oct 7th, and you can get information with this phone number: (860) 537-6555. It takes place THIS weekend guys!

Forked River, NJ:
This event takes place on Sunday October 7th as well (this weekend). The 2nd Annual Dogy Derby benefits the Rotary Club of the area, and will have plenty of competitions (including costume), demonstrations, and there will also be vendor booths. Admission is pretty cheap for this one, at only $5.

Columbus, Ohio:
How about a pet parade operated by a humane society? October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog month, and this event correlates with it. The Capital Area Humane Society will be holding a pet parade on October 28th (Sunday) at the Easton Town Center starting at noon.

Edmond's Way, Washington:
Halloween Howl takes place on Saturday October 20th, at Edmond's Dog Park. There will be tons to do, from an auction to testing out pet products. Since this is a dog park, your dogs can run free off of their leashes; granted that they are friendly and play well with other pooches.
